S ince I shared that rambling a while ago here, thought I’d give an update.
Last weekend I was invited over to a family dinner and cleared up some things and did what some of you advised to do - talk to them about it directly, openly. It went very well. They apologized for being distant and said just cause it’s a pandemic that’s not an excuse to not be in touch. One of them told me to not have such high expectations of others. Helped one of the kids who just started college as well with some typical freshman college student issues.
So thanks again. I’ve been refocusing on applying to user experience design jobs and improving myself. The past few days I have felt so much better than I did the past few months. Thanks again. (also if anyone could help me find a full-time UX gig that would be dope)

We offer you good advice and in return get a photo of a Taurus?
Ok, I hear there’s this SHO thing which is cool, but for me a Taurus is what the local used car lot offers as a rental. I’ve driven more 2005-06 Tauruses than some of you have ever seen on the roads (thanks, unreliable Jeep).
A Taurus. Sheesh.

I know many people who should be hiring for UX positions

They’re still alive and well in China. The Cavalier was just discontinued again though.

My parents’ ‘95 had those wheels. Decent enough I think (my family’s first car without steelies). So much bad and broken about that car though.

Wow, that’s actually a good looking car.

That’s... Not a 1992 Ford Tempo.
Glad it went well. I think everyone is undergoing a lot of stress these days, and some of us manifest it differently than others. Personally, I tend to distance myself and don’t want to burden others with my problems (A bad strategy btw) , so I get it. Bringing it up is a great step to understanding.
No UX jobs, and I hate my job anyways so I wouldn't do that to you. Good luck!

Glad things are going well for you. It takes some guts to directly mention it to them but hopefully they realize that and that you wouldn’t have said something if it weren’t important.

Glad to hear it.

Given the current trajectory of crossovers... that line is soon gonna become:
Wow, that’s actually a
car.

It’s odd as very few sedan owners I know would plan on buying a crossover unless they specifically were after greater offroad capability (rare as there is no offroading to be done around here) or “practicality” because they cost more compared to what you get. Though I’m also more acquainted with the used market where a good enough deal could see you end up in almost anything. Buying new is a different story.

Sorry, that heap is long gone! Though if you happen to see a powder blue Taurus with blue pin stripes on one side, and grey on the other, 75719 is the door code.

Glad to hear everything went well. I wish my family was this understanding and open minded, but they’re just a bunch of geezers and you can’t teach an old dog new tricks so it is what it is but I honestly am glad that you don’t have to go through thos e problems anymore . Also that's not a Tempo

That’s so good to hear. Family is important, and it’s worth going the extra mile to clear things up so they don’t fester.

Do you have some examples of work and areas of interest? chrisuthe@gm@il .com - I don’t have a UX spot open on my team but another team has a pretty sizeable UX team that always seems to be hiring.
